Quotes for the New Year

Good grief, it’s finally here. The 2020 that we looked forward to so hopefully, turned out to be a disaster. COVID, the Pale Horse of the Apocalypse has stampeded through the world.

Trump continued to make an ass of himself, dragging the country along behind with adulation from over 70 million voters.

Too many of our close friends passed away. This can be normal at our age but is never easy. Divorces where we never expected them.

Fires in the west, floods in the east. Black people still killed with what looks like impunity. Selfish people who thought wearing a mask to protect themselves and others had something to do with their freedom. Probably the same ones who hoarded toilet paper. Which tells me something …full of s—.

We did elect a new president who seems like a good man. No porn stars and ex-wives. He actually attends church, doesn’t pose with a bible after tear gassing people in his way.

So here we are hopeful again. We’ll get the virus under control. Move back into international respect. Work toward Real civil rights. Let’s live with the mantra, “In a world where you can be anything, be kind.”

If we don’t start to care about each other, I fear this year we’ll be quoting Dorothy Parker, “What fresh hell is this?”
